Walk through an artist's imagination.
In the late 1970s and 80s, when rent around Harajuku was still within reach, young creators set up studios in nearby apartment buildings — small spaces where they made one-of-a-kind work by hand and brought it to Laforet's basement to sell. This "mansion creator" culture shaped the creative identity of Harajuku.
The Love and Madness Market carries that spirit forward. Now in its 4th year, this year it crosses into virtual space for the first time. Six artists build physical booths at Laforet Harajuku B0.5F while simultaneously constructing their inner worlds as 3D environments on MEs. Visitors move between both — experiencing each artist's world across multiple layers.
Meet the Artists
When you enter, you arrive at the market — a space lined with greeting rooms, one for each of the six artists. Inside each room, there's a portal. Step through, and you enter the artist's inner world — the sources of their inspiration, fragments of their thinking, places they haven't shown anyone before.

Selected works will be printed and displayed inside the physical Love and Madness Market at Laforet Harajuku. Weeks 1–3 (Apr 1–21). Judged by participating artists + community vote. Results announced at Community Creation Night.
Mind Environment System
MEs (Mind Environment System) is a platform where artists can express and share their inner worlds as 3D digital spaces. Within MEs, fragments of sketches, research, experiments, and notes coalesce into tangible forms called "Patches." Collecting and combining them sparks new modes of creative dialogue — an immersive experience of walking through an artist's mind. Developed by O Ltd. Accessible on PC via Steam.
