Walk through an artist's imagination.

In the late 1970s and 80s, when rent around Harajuku was still within reach, young creators set up studios in nearby apartment buildings — small spaces where they made one-of-a-kind work by hand and brought it to Laforet's basement to sell. This "mansion creator" culture shaped the creative identity of Harajuku.

The Love and Madness Market carries that spirit forward. Now in its 4th year, this year it crosses into virtual space for the first time. Six artists build physical booths at Laforet Harajuku B0.5F while simultaneously constructing their inner worlds as 3D environments on MEs. Visitors move between both — experiencing each artist's world across multiple layers.

Meet the Artists

When you enter, you arrive at the market — a space lined with greeting rooms, one for each of the six artists. Inside each room, there's a portal. Step through, and you enter the artist's inner world — the sources of their inspiration, fragments of their thinking, places they haven't shown anyone before.

meilyn haruka

BLABLAHOSPITAL

BLABLAHOSPITAL

A fashion brand that creates one-of-a-kind pieces under the theme of "Clothes as Art." Each piece is designed to be worn freely according to the wearer's creative mindset and individuality, evoking the feeling of wearing a work of art like a painting.

dogooooo

dogooooo

SAYoooooh develops cross-media creative projects centered on the character “dogooooo,” spanning 3D art, music, video, and physical works. Their aesthetic draws from Jomon dogu to bridge past and future, physical and virtual.

HISUI HIROKO ITO

HISUI HIROKO ITO

Clothing that subtly changes how you feel and how you are perceived, simply by wearing it. By combining flat, conceptual thinking with three-dimensional construction, each piece is designed to look beautiful in motion, responding naturally to the body. Simple yet somehow new, the designs leave a lasting impression. They balance a light, comfortable fit with a refined, mode-inspired aesthetic. Additionally, many pieces feature 2-way or 3-way transformations, allowing you to wear them freely in your own way. In the "Number Series," meanings and structures of numbers are incorporated into the design, embedding stories and concepts directly into the garments themselves. These are clothes that bring a small sense of excitement and discovery into everyday life.

Genie Ink

Genie Ink

A Canada-born, Tokyo-based illustrator who moves between ink and digital. Minimal lines that hold motion and narrative. Known for a visual language that feels both quiet and alive — each piece finding its tension between stillness and flow.

uuu3s

Mind Environment System

MEs (Mind Environment System) is a platform where artists can express and share their inner worlds as 3D digital spaces. Within MEs, fragments of sketches, research, experiments, and notes coalesce into tangible forms called "Patches." Collecting and combining them sparks new modes of creative dialogue — an immersive experience of walking through an artist's mind. Developed by O Ltd. Accessible on PC via Steam.
